Lavender

Lavender's scent and other unique properties make it a popular ingredient for medicinal, culinary and cosmetic uses. Lavender is one of the most versatile essential oils. Lavender oil is found in deodorants, lotions, soaps, and many other skin-care products. It is naturally anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antiseptic and insect repellant.

Repellent

Certain types of insects including mosquitoes do not like lavender, yet lavender oil is also friendly and soothing to the skin, making it suitable as both a lotion and a topical mosquito repellent. The anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antibacterial properties of lavender oil can relieve the skin of itchiness and swelling and prevent infection caused by insect bites.

Soothes

Lavender has been used to relieve many skin problems including eczema. Because eczema symptoms are mostly caused by inflammation by bacteria or yeast, lavender oil can help reduce these symptoms. Its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties repel unwanted bacteria that can cause infection and inflammation; and relieve inflammation and swelling.

Relieves

Lavender is commonly used for aromatherapy and massage to relieve joint and muscle pain, in part because lavender oil easily permeates the skin. Lavender oil has analgesic properties, which can affect the nervous system to relieve pain. Lavender oil may reduce inflammation and tension in the muscles, support circulation and increase oxygen in the blood.

Prevents Acne

With its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, lavender oil cleanses facial skin of bacteria and other irritants which can cause various skin conditions including acne. Lavender is a great natural option, as many commercial facial products can contain ethanol and other chemicals that dry and damage the skin.

Prevents and Heals

Wounds and injuries can be disinfected naturally using soap with lavender essential oil. Using lavender soap on the skin can kill microbes, bacteria and fungus, which could cause infections like staph aureus and candida albicans (yeast associated with thrush and vaginal yeast infections), and pneumonia.

Brightens

Using lavender as a facial cleanser can reduce dark spots, black heads, skin discoloration, and hasten the regenerations of the tissue in the epidermis layer.
