Lavender
Lavender's scent and other unique properties make it a popular ingredient for medicinal, culinary and cosmetic uses. Lavender is one of the most versatile essential oils. Lavender oil is found in deodorants, lotions, soaps, and many other skin-care products. It is naturally anti-inflammatory, anti-bacterial, antiseptic and insect repellant.
Repellent
Certain types of insects including mosquitoes do not like lavender, yet lavender oil is also friendly and soothing to the skin, making it suitable as both a lotion and a topical mosquito repellent. The anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and antibacterial properties of lavender oil can relieve the skin of itchiness and swelling and prevent infection caused by insect bites.
Soothes
Lavender has been used to relieve many skin problems including eczema. Because eczema symptoms are mostly caused by inflammation by bacteria or yeast, lavender oil can help reduce these symptoms. Its anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties repel unwanted bacteria that can cause infection and inflammation; and relieve inflammation and swelling.
Relieves Pain
Lavender is commonly used for aromatherapy and massage to relieve joint and muscle pain, in part because lavender oil easily permeates the skin. Lavender oil has analgesic properties, which can affect the nervous system to relieve pain. Lavender oil may reduce inflammation and tension in the muscles, support circulation and increase oxygen in the blood.
Prevents Acne
With its antibacterial and antiseptic properties, lavender oil cleanses facial skin of bacteria and other irritants which can cause various skin conditions including acne. Lavender is a great natural option, as many commercial facial products can contain ethanol and other chemicals that dry and damage the skin.
Prevents and Heals
Wounds and injuries can be disinfected naturally using soap with lavender essential oil. Using lavender soap on the skin can kill microbes, bacteria and fungus, which could cause infections like staph aureus and candida albicans (yeast associated with thrush and vaginal yeast infections), and pneumonia.
Brightens
Using lavender as a facial cleanser can reduce dark spots, black heads, skin discoloration, and hasten the regenerations of the tissue in the epidermis layer.
Orange
With high levels of Vitamin C, orange can be used as a toner or facial moisturizer, and can brighten, soften and rejuvenate your skin.
Prevents Acne
Orange oil can help control acne. Orange oil’s citric acid can dry out the acne and control oil on the skin, which helps to fade acne marks and dark spots from the face and improve skin texture.
Removes Blackheads
Blackheads are stubborn gunk embedded in your facial pores and are filled with sebum and dead skin cells. Orange oil can help you get rid of them and give your skin a natural glow and youthful appearance with no blemishes.
Anti-Ageing
The vitamin C in orange can help control signs of ageing by making your skin look fresh, youthful, plump and firm. Orange is a natural astringent which can help tone your skin and tighten your pores. Vitamin C also increases collagen production, improving the skin's texture and leaving you feeling cleaner and smoother.
Antioxidant
The Vitamin C in orange helps fight off infections and flush out toxins from your skin. One of the biggest benefits of orange oil for skin is its richness in antioxidants that protect the body from oxidative stress and damage from harmful free radicals and are believed to play a role in protecting the body from heart disease, diabetes and some cancers.
Sunscreen
Orange is a natural sunscreen that protects skin from the sun’s harmful UV rays that cause ageing and cancer.
Moisturizes
Orange’s antioxidant properties help to hydrate dull and dehydrated skin. Consuming oranges or using orange oil topically can help make your skin look youthful and supple.
Exfoliate
Rich in Vitamin E, orange oil helps to exfoliate your skin and unclog your pores.
Brightens
Vitamin C is commonly used to brighten skin and remove tan from the face by ridding the epidermal layer of the skin of dead skin cells. Because orange oil nourishes and brightens your skin, it is excellent for those looking to get rid of their tan and reclaim the beautiful glow of their skin.
